With his signature long dreadlocks and vast experience in all forms of music, Cheik Lo has recorded his eclectic funk music in locations ranging from Brazil to England to Africa with some of the most acclaimed producers in the world. Born in Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso, Cheik Lo entered his music career early, joining a jazz ensemble then playing with various Cote d'Ivoire and French musicians. After recording materials in Paris, he invented a reggae/mbalax sound mix that caught the attention of Youssou N'Dour. In 1995, the producer released Lo's debut album, Ne La Thiass. Experimenting with different music as he traveled the world, Lo moved to Brazil and then Dakar, where he incorporated new Cuban and flamenco influences to produce his most diverse, unique sound yet.
